I was recently contacted by the Canadian Animal Blood Bank who are looking for eligible dogs to donate!
They provided me with some information below that may answer some questions you may have. If you are interested, please reach out to them directly!

Helpful Information
Donor Eligibility:
Donors need to be minimally 55lbs to safely donate the minimum volume, and we ask that they are between 1-8 years old to get started. Once involved, dogs can donate until they turn 11 as long as their health status permits! Donors also need to be up-to-date on core vaccines or titres, and have a temperament that allows laying on their side for 3-5 minutes with some human contact involved.
Note: heartworm and tick prevention is recommended, but not required.
FAQs
Dogs can donate every 3 months, and we want to keep the donation experience as positive or "voluntary" as possible. Dogs also have blood types, and certain breeds can sometimes align with a specific blood type. The appointment is 30 minutes long, but the process itself takes 5 minutes tops. There is no sedation involved. Owners are welcome to stay present the whole time, and are even encouraged to help with holding!
Each donation can save up to three lives!
PERKS:
Medical and swag: complimentary 4DX annually (heartworm and tick borne disease testing), complimentary PCV/TP (packed cell volume and total protein) and blood borne disease screen (x12 blood borne diseases) at each donation, blood type at screening; bandana, dog tag, donor passport; free microchip at second donation; IOU system (every donation = one complimentary blood product for the family)
Other: some really good PR for these dogs and for you!
REGISTRATION:
I have attached our form, but people can also find it online! We ask that the dog's primary veterinarian completes a one-page form to confirm health status and eligibility. This can be sent in to us, and we will reach out to the owner to set up an appointment and answer any questions.
