Hey guys!

First off, Happy New Year!

Usually January is pretty low-key but we've had a lot going on this month.

To start, the farm would all like to wish you a happy new year!

The new year started fantastic!

We welcomed a new little niece to the family, Adelyn!
She arrived on January 2nd weighing a whopping 9lbs 9oz! Congrats to Matt and Tara who are amazing parents!

On a less exciting note, Dave's grandfather Stew passed away January 19th.
I linked his obituary above. We celebrated his life on Friday Feb 2nd.

Dave and Stew were very close so it was a tremendous loss for Dave. Stew was a reverend and married many family's throughout the years. He didn't marry us but he did speak wise words to us at the ceremony.

Granddad always proudly wore his Stewart tartan & kilt (Stewart is a family name which Dave also carries). We discovered after he died that he actually has 2 kilts. The Stewart kilt which is red and a blue one that he wore to a ceremony of some type (I'm not going to even try to explain it because I don't remember details).

After gathering Granddads belongings together his parents offered Dave the kilts. We brought them home and Dave tried them on. The red one was a little short but it did fit. The blue one fit like a glove! So we thought, why not wear it to the funeral? Granddad would love that!

The next day I was going through some old photos of Dave and I from University and I came across this photo, shoved in this album out of nowhere... a photo that I have never seen before and a photo that was not at all related to photos of Dave and I in University.  Well, well, if it isn't the photo of the kilt!!!

Coincidence? Maybe... but we'll take it as a sign that yes indeed Dave should wear the kilt.

The other unusual thing was that the day before I found this I had gathered all the photos we had of Granddad and made a collage for the funeral. There was not a single photo of him in the kilt. So I have no idea how that photo got tucked away in the album. But it was a little eerie. And the timing was impeccable.

I imagine Granddad is looking down very proud!

Well I think that's enough personal stuff for one post.

How about some sheep and goat drama. Because I have lots of that!!!

2 weeks ago Dave was doing his regular farm duties and found John (our sheep) in the barn with a broken leg. Poor guy. we don't know how it happened but we suspect Dean and Sam are the culprits.

Dave rushed him to the vet where they did some x-rays and put a cast on. He has to wear it for 3 weeks and so he gets his cast of later this week!

Since John breaking a leg wasn't enough drama for the month... we also had a sick goat!

Basically, the door to all the farm food got knocked open and the goats and sheep helped themselves to 30 pounds of crushed oats! Oh joy!

When they eat THAT much food in one sitting they'll get backed up. Bobby and Kevin were a little sluggish and had diarrhea for a few days. Bobby seemed to bounce back but Kevin progressively got worse. We ended up bringing him to the vet on a huge snow storm day because we were concerned because he wouldn't eat or drink.

They gave him antibiotics, painkillers and put a tube down his throat into his rumen and funneled 3 liters of water in to prevent him from getting dehydrated. Well, luckily from there he got better! Poops started moving thru and every day passing came back to his normal self! Phew! Dodged another bullet!

Well, that's it for now! See ya'll later!
