Merry 'Belated' Christmas

12/27/2016

Merry Christmas everyone! I'm sure you've all been just as busy as I have the last few days with all the Christmas hustle and bustle. The puppies are growing and changing every day faster then I can keep up. I cannot believe that in 2 days they will be 4 weeks old and that means that my journey with them is half over! It makes me so sad.
I'll be honest, every week that passes they get a little hard to care for. Poops get bigger, bellies get bigger, nails get longer and the more they want attention and cuddles! I can see it in their eyes that they are just all longing for that special someone to pick them up and bring them HOME!

Can you see the hate in Dave's grin (this photo was so awkward)
As of today, we still have 3 puppies available! One special little one (Peppermint) I don't think will last long, everyone seems to be fussing over her and I suspect by the end of the week she will have a forever home to go to.

So here's the latest on the puppy gossip....
Dave gave them their first nail trim yesterday (which went surprisingly well). They were long over due and I'm pretty sure Audrey is thanking us since she had a few little scratches on her tummy.

The puppies are now eating moist (hate that word) puppy food. I no longer have to mash it to a pulp, but I still have to soak it in warm water for quite a while before they can eat it. They are also still drinking Audrey's milk, but their teeth are coming in now so she will slowly wean them soon.

My DuraWhelp mats came in last week. They were delayed 3 weeks because of a mistake in address and then the weather. I was so thankful they arrived!!
For those of you that don't know what they are, they're a special mat that goes in the pen that allows the pee to leak through onto what ever you put under them (usually cardboard or pee pads). Before I was just using blankets which don't work great once the puppies can pee on their own because it only takes one meal for them to soak a blanket. I was doing so much laundry!! Now I can rotate out these mats and it is glorious!

Now that (most of) the crazy part of Christmas is over I will be updating the puppies photos this week. I go back to work January 3rd and we're accepting visitors again on January 7th for those of you who want to come visit your puppy again!

Another exciting thing that happened yesterday- the puppies all had their first bath!
Some reacted with a screach, some wanted to eat the bubbles and some just chilled there enjoying the warm water. We dried them off with fluffy towels and then stuck them on the heated blanket. They weren't too dirty to begin with but I'm trying my best to expose them to all new things early. I've attached some cute photo's of them below during their bath!

Puppy Update

12/17/2016

Here's the latest puppy update!!

First of all, I'd like to apologize to all the puppy owners I promised consistant updates to. I have been trying my best to stay on top of it but time goes by SO FAST this time of year! Between work and the puppies and prepping for Christmas it's been a gong show!

We had a Christmas party last night and everyone LOVED the puppies. They got some much needed interaction and cuddles to help them develop into that snuggly puppy that everyones wants to take home!

I finally sat down today and powered through the thousands of photos I took of the puppies and posted some of them on the puppy page. You will notice that their eyes are open now which is really exciting! They're also gaining weight at a steady pace and I've been trying to stay on top of weighing them every other day or so.

We started giving them some mush yesterday and they are loving it. It's very messy but it's good to get them started on the good stuff. They are still nursing from Audrey consistantly and she's doing a wonderful job as a first time Mom.

You can see in some of the Youtube videos I posted on the puppy page that the puppies have also started walking, barking, and playing. In a week or so they will be SUPER fun to play with so were looking forward to everyone stopping by after Christmas to see how much their puppy has changed since they first met them.

I'm thinking that sometime over the Christmas break I might create a Dropbox folder so that everyone can access ALL their puppy photos from there. I have SO MANY photos of them and I only post a few of them at a time. That way everyone can pick out the pictures they like the most. I'll keep you posted on that!

All 8 puppies - 2 weeks old
We still have 3 puppies available (Chai, Cinnamon, & Peppermint). We want these babies to find the perfect forever homes and I'm sure it wont be long until we find the right family for each of them!

Partridge Photography (who did our family photos this year- who is amazingly talented by the way) came down last weekend and took some ADORABLE newborn photos of the puppies. I will post them when she gets around to sending them my way. She too, is very busy this time of the year!

I try my best to get to my computer during the week to post updates, but I do post a lot more on my personal Instagram and Facebook page since it's quick and easy for me during the week. Feel free to follow/add me on either of those! I linked them to this page so you can find it directly on there.

I already can't belive that they are over 2 weeks old now and I have less then 6 weeks left with them! Gosh I'm going to miss them when they are gone!!

I will be on vacation starting Thursday December 22nd to Tuesday January 2nd. Our doors are open for visitors after Christmas during those dates if anyways wants to pop in!

Stop by our website every few days and see updates!!

I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas!

Birth Story

November 30th Audrey's temperature dropped around 6am (this means puppies are coming in appx 24 hours). We continued on our daily activities. That evening she started panting and showing signs of labor. We thought FOR SURE puppies were going to come during the night. We waited and waited and waited. Nothing.

1:30 am came and we decided to go to bed.

4:30 am December 1st I woke up because Audrey was pacing. So I got up with her and did my thing while her symptoms progressed.

By 7:30 am Audrey was starting to push but nothing was happening. She was shaking and BEGGING to go outside for a poop! (But we knew it wasn't a poop coming).

At 8:30 I called the vet worried that nothing was happening. They reassured me and after I hung up it was just minutes away from the big moment...

At 8:45 am she finally started to push and I saw a little nub poking out! 2 pushes later the very first puppy of Dobbit's Standard Poodles was born!! Woohoo! We were over the moon! A cream female, a little spawn of Audrey herself! I was in love!

She then gave birth to 2 more puppies in the next hour. She took an hour break and had 3 more in an hour. She took an hour and a half break (at this point we thought she might be done) but then 2 more popped out! The last puppy was born at 1:31pm. She was exhaused. 5 hours of labor!

After 2 hours passed she continued to have contractions and nest. I thought for sure there was another puppy stuck in there. I called Dr. Carnegy and they told me to come in just in case.

So we packed up the car at 4:30 pm during rush hour traffic and made the over an hour drive to the vet. Dave nursed the puppies in the car while I drove. It was quite an ordeal.

We got to the vet, they took an x-ray to make sure all the puppies were out and we got the good news that she was good and no puppies were left behind! PHEW!

Then we headed home... and.. happily ever after!

Also, for those curious... Audrey is a wonderful first time Mom! She stays with her puppies 24/7 and loves them dearly!!
