I'll be honest, every week that passes they get a little hard to care for. Poops get bigger, bellies get bigger, nails get longer and the more they want attention and cuddles! I can see it in their eyes that they are just all longing for that special someone to pick them up and bring them HOME!
Dave gave them their first nail trim yesterday (which went surprisingly well). They were long over due and I'm pretty sure Audrey is thanking us since she had a few little scratches on her tummy.
The puppies are now eating moist (hate that word) puppy food. I no longer have to mash it to a pulp, but I still have to soak it in warm water for quite a while before they can eat it. They are also still drinking Audrey's milk, but their teeth are coming in now so she will slowly wean them soon.
My DuraWhelp mats came in last week. They were delayed 3 weeks because of a mistake in address and then the weather. I was so thankful they arrived!!
For those of you that don't know what they are, they're a special mat that goes in the pen that allows the pee to leak through onto what ever you put under them (usually cardboard or pee pads). Before I was just using blankets which don't work great once the puppies can pee on their own because it only takes one meal for them to soak a blanket. I was doing so much laundry!! Now I can rotate out these mats and it is glorious!
Another exciting thing that happened yesterday- the puppies all had their first bath!
Some reacted with a screach, some wanted to eat the bubbles and some just chilled there enjoying the warm water. We dried them off with fluffy towels and then stuck them on the heated blanket. They weren't too dirty to begin with but I'm trying my best to expose them to all new things early. I've attached some cute photo's of them below during their bath!
I hope everyone has a Happy New Year!
