This weekend has been a ball full of mixed emotions and events.
Friday, we laid to rest a wonderful man, Jimmy Watson. He was my father's best friend and a man that had a huge impact on our life. He helped us build our house and always kept us laughing.
Saturday, Dave, Andrew, Dad, Karen (dads gf) and myself all went down to Jimmy's camp in Lake Charlotte. We sat around, enjoyed some beers and told stories about Jimmy. It was bittersweet. My dad said his goodbyes (which broke my heart) and I laid flowers around his property. I took some photos and I have started a giant painting (24x36) of the camp that my father and Jimmy shared most of their memories together. It will be his christmas gift.
Sunday, we decided that we have had so much grief over the last few weeks that we needed a day to get out with the family and shed no tears. So we did. We packed our bags and headed to the valley for our annual trip. We picked apples, pumpkins, ate lunch, went for walks and of course - took lots of pictures!!! (as you will see below). Meanwhile, before we left I put a turkey in the oven which was slow roasting all day. We came home to a delicious meal!
Today - Monday, we are vegging out. We have a bit of cleaning up to do and a dinner at my mom's house at 2pm. And that pretty much wraps up our weekend.
Today I am thankful for all the good things in my life. Yesterday a stranger told us we have a "million dollar family". Well, I guess that is something to be thankful for! I'm also thankful for those family members we have lost and those that are sick right now and cannot be with us. And mostly I'm thankful for my health. XO
