2020 Litter Updates!

3/16/2020

Hello everyone! I know there are lots of new people following along now that we have some upcoming litters so I thought I would update things on here a little bit.
I don't get the chance to sit down and do posts as frequently as I'd like since we have 2 young children now that keep us very busy!
Picture
Feb 2020, Victoria 1 week old, Lincoln 15 months old
I brought Lucy for an ultrasound last week and it is confirmed that she is expecting puppies! Woohoo! Spring puppies are on their way! I know we have lots of families anxiously waiting. We expect them to arrive the week leading up to Easter.

I started their dedicated page on here as I always do with our puppies so CLICK HERE to be directed to the page where you can watch them grow and see updates that I post weekly.

Hopefully we have lots of healthy puppies to go around. If by chance anyone is left hanging, we are planning a litter in the fall.

Grace will be 2 in May 2020 and we will begin her health testing. If everything looks good then we will breed her the following heat cycle, assuming we still have a list of interested buyers!

If anyone is interested in a puppy please fill out the puppy application here. Email is the best form of contact for me. I have my phone number listed on my website but I often cannot take calls on a whim because of the 2 kiddos.

Don't forget, we do not take deposits until after puppies are born and we require a non-breeding contract to be signed upon the puppies departure! Puppies also go home with a puppy package!

Stay tuned for lots of cute puppy photos in the near future!!

And there goes 5 months...

It's been a while... like 5 months or so!

I always feel like the Summer flies by in a blink of an eye.

A lot of fun things happened around here the last few months and I have kept you in the shadows because it has been incredibly busy.

So I guess I'll just jump right into it!

We had another litter of puppies (our 4th litter) born May 3rd 2019. Lucy had 7 puppies but we did lose 1, so we had 6 beautiful little fluff balls!

They all found loving homes and it was exhausting to say the least wrangling 6 puppies and a baby at once, but we managed!

If you want to read more about that litter click here!
Picture
Unfortunately, with that litter we did end up with our first seriously sick puppy. I know most breeders don't openly talk about these things but I do because I'm an open book and I'm honest with my owners.

About 2 or 3 weeks after little Lucy left our care she fell very seriously ill with her family. We spent many days with her in the emergency care and eventually she came around, sort of. The vets could not figure out what was wrong with her. Every test came back normal. They wanted to send us to PEI to have an MRI done on her brain, which as going to cost thousands of dollars that none of us had. So she went without a diagnosis but we treated her odd symptoms with antibiotics and steroids which seemed to help. She went home with most of her normal self back aside from a wobble. She was like that for a few weeks.

Unfortunately, a few days after weaning her off her medications she had another serious relapse. She could not walk, eat, drink, stand, nothing. She lost her ability to be a dog, but her mind was still sharp. The owners were comfortable to give her a few days and see how she did but there was no improvement. We had to say goodbye to this sweet, sweet puppy. And I'm telling you, she was SWEET. It breaks my heart over and over every time I think about it.

They said goodbye to her and a few days later a necropsy was done and determined that Lucy had a deformity in her skull. There was a small space between her spine and her brain which collected fluid and put pressure on her brain resulting in brain death. Dogs that present with this don't live to be a year old. There is no treatment. There was nothing that we could have done to prevent it and from what the vets tell us, it is not an inherited thing. It can show up on any puppy any time. It just happens. Her condition is also called hydrocephalus.

I arranged for this family to get a different puppy from a breeder in Quebec to help with the loss of Lucy as this family has a young boy at home who missed his puppy very much. Anyways, I don't enjoy sharing sad stories but I felt like Lucy story had to be told.
Picture
To switch gears a little bit here... were having another baby!!

I'm due the end of February!
Picture
And we found out a few weeks ago that IT'S A GIRL!!
Picture
If you are wondering about our next litter the answer is Spring 2020-ish.

We want to give Lucy a bit of a break because she had 3 back to back litters.

So our next litter really depends on how the transition is between having a second baby, recovering from a C section and then of course when Lucy actually goes into heat (that part is important).

So we will see when it gets closer how things happen! But we will keep you in the loop.

The last exciting thing I have to share with you is that we had a wonderfully successful Open Farm Day this September!

We had about 200 guests and raised $150 for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada, and $40 for Farm food!

If you want to see all the photos click here and have a peek!

Anyways, thanks for reading and hopefully in the next few months I can pop on here and give some more updates!! Love ya'll!!

Hey guys, it's been a while since I wrote an update so here it is!

Our November 2018 litter have all found wonderful homes and are doing great so far.

We are expecting another litter the first week of May and then will likely take the fall off and breed again next Spring.
(We were going to take this Spring off but things didn't go as we planned- as usual).
We do have spots available to reserve a puppy so let us know if you are interested!
Lucy has an x-ray scheduled April 29th so we can see how many pups to expect.

Baby Lincoln is 5 months old now and is growing like a weed!
He keeps me very busy!
20 lbs of squishy love!
Picture
We have lots of Spring projects on the go for the farm and around our property and were thinking about doing an open farm day in September, so stay tuned!

Thanks for reading!

It's been a while...

It's been on my to-do list for quite some time now to jump on here and update everyone on what's been going on around here. I used to be on the ball with this kind of stuff but lately we are completely run off our feet! The days FLY by!

With Christmas just around the corner it has my list of to do's even longer then usual.

Why? Because we recently welcomed a little boy to the family! Baby Lincoln!
He was born on the same day that our unplanned litter of puppies were born, which also happened to be my 28th birthday!  So it's been a wild few weeks around here.

I'll make this update short and sweet!

Also, Audrey's litter of puppies turned 2 on December 1st! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Lucy's 2nd litter of puppies just turned 2 weeks old this past Friday and are growing little squirts! As of today we have 5/8 sold, so we are still looking for homes for 3 of them, all boys, a brown, white and an apricot. You can head to their page for more info.
Picture
Little Lincoln is also settling in nicely. He's a great eater and sleeper and is making my life a dream with trying to juggle a newborn, a litter of puppies, 4 large dogs, a 3 story home and a farm full of animals... oh yeah and Dave... oh and I have to feed myself somewhere in between all that, and plop Christmas on top of all that. I'm surprised I still have hair... and energy! Thankfully I still have fuel to keep going. Not to wish my life away but I am looking forward to the 2nd week of January. Why? Because the puppies will be gone and the Christmas crazies will be over and we'll be able to bunker down and relax for a few months.
Picture
Picture
Anyways, I'm not going to bore you with blabber.
I'll attach some photos below of little Lincoln's birth and first few weeks in this world!
I'll try to get on here more often and post more updates on the puppies (but don't hold me to it)!!!

Well That Happened!

Well hello there! It's been about 6 weeks since I have done a post and boy have we been busy. Today is our first "normal" day since about 3 months ago. We had 7 kittens followed but 8 puppies and now they have all left and gone to happy homes. I'm also almost 26 weeks pregnant, so I'm starting to slow down a little.

The kittens have been gone for a few weeks now and the puppies left yesterday. I figured today I would update everyone on how all the little fluffs are fitting into their new homes. I know it can be especially sad to see them all go away after watching them grow and raising them for so many weeks. But it is very much rewarding to see how happy they are with their new families! It's also a bonus to have a clean smelling house again.

But seriously, it MAKES MY DAY when I get to see updates on all the little critters!
Picture
Well lets get right to it then!

I'll start with the kittens!

Callie
Callie lives with another kitty and her two human sisters who love to play with her! She loves to chase her big boy kitty friends tail.
Picture
Earl
Earl lives with 2 guinea pigs, 2 other cats and now a dog with 3 legs! He likes to take naps in the guinea pig cage.
Picture
Picture
Picture
Giant Tiger
She runs the show at her house. At took a little warming up for her but now she's happy as a clam.
Picture
Puppy
His little human sister named him, can you tell!? He is such a cutie!
Picture
Milo
Milo lives with my cousin. I haven't received any updates on him but usually no news is good news!
Rory
Rory is always up to no good but loves snuggling his humans! He also seems to be content with his kitty sibling who's still a little larger then him!
Picture
Picture
Picture
Picture
Junior
Junior lives with us! He was actually named after Dave... Dave named him Dave Junior but since we named all our cats after candy we pretend he was named after Junior Mints. He has transitioned into living in the barn with our other 3 cats as of last weekend and so far seems to enjoy going on adventures outside during the day!
Picture

Picture
So there we go!

Also, Tootsie and Pixie were spayed a few weeks ago... so enjoy these kitten photos while you can because NO MORE kittens in this house! LOL. As much as we love them that was no really part of our master plan!

And now... the puppies!!

Dave & Maggie
Dobbit's Hemlock & Dobbit's Magnolia
These 2 lucky puppies went together to the same home. This family has 3 grown children and will get plenty of attention one on one and also together. They slept through the night for their first night and also are masters at napping! I bet you they are so happy to have each other because it can be scary at first going to a new home!
Picture
Picture
Picture
Greta
Dobbit's Maple

I'm not sure I can even handle the cuteness of this photo!! Miss Greta is SO lucky to have this sweet little girl as her best friend. She is going to get all the love in the world from her. They will be the best of friends I'm sure of it. BUT it wont be long before she wont be able to hold her like this anymore.. they grow fast!!
Picture
Ollie
Dobbit's Alder

Ollie is doing great in his new home. He has a little human brother to play with and all is good! He likes to sleep on the hard floor instead of the his doggy beds which was the same for all the puppies when they were living at our house!
Picture
Picture
Romeo
Dobbit's Hickory

Romeo's family is totally in love with him! He lives all the way out in Quebec which is the farthest we have sent a puppy. This sweet boy has a poodle at home that he will get to know and love soon enough! They will be best buds!
Picture
Dougal
Dobbit's Aspen

Dougal is settling in nicely with his new family and adult poodle sister Daisy. It was SO HARD to say bye to this guy, he had stolen my heart... BUT LOOK HOW HAPPY HE LOOKS. You can tell he is just in his element and loving his new life!
Picture
Picture
Molly
Dobbit's Willow

It didn't take Molly very long to settle in with her family. She was shy at first but once she realized shes a big girl now, she quickly stepped into her role as the doggy of the household! She has 2 cats to keep in line so that will be fun!
Picture
Picture
Grace
Dobbit's Juniper

Little Grace is staying with us! She's (hopefully) the future of our breeding program! We'll see how she turns out. I think Lucy is enjoying her company. Lucy was such a great mom to all the puppies and just adores little Grace. So far the farm is a little intimidating for her but she'll come around.
Picture
Picture
Picture

So there ya have it! And they all lived happily ever after!! Am I right? Yes. But it doesn't stop me from crying haha!  Bittersweet.
Picture
Gosh, they were a lot of work, but was it ever worth it. I have such an unconditional love for each and every one of them.
Picture
I swear I blinked and it was come and gone just like that.
Picture
Picture
One happy and proud mom right there!

Next litter will be Spring 2019. We are already taking names so if you are interested, let me know!

I think it's time for us to buy a King size bed.

Kittens, Puppies & Babies!

6/16/2018

I figured it's about time I finally did a blog post since it's been a while and A LOT has happened since my last post. I'll try to make it brief!

So first things first...

KITTENS!!!

The kittens are doing fantastic!
Pixie & Tootsie had 7 total (2 girls and 5 boys). They are approaching 7 weeks old now and will be off to their new homes soon (June 29th)!
I update their photos and progress every week so check out their oops kittens page for more info!
(They are all spoken for by the way)
Oh, and were keeping the black one! We named him Junior!
Picture
Earl, Callie, Giant Tiger, Unnamed, Rory, Junior, Unnamed
The next exciting adventure is.....

PUPPIES!!!

Lucy gave birth to her puppies on May 29th... her 3rd birthday!
It was a very long day. She had her first puppy at 6:44 am and her last and 11th puppy at 2:58 pm. Unfortunately over the first 3 days after they were born she lost 3 puppies. If you are curious about what happened there's more info about it on the puppy page.
After the losses, the head count was 8.
4 girls and 4 boys.
2 white males, 2 apricot females, 1 black male, 2 black females, 1 brown male!
Quite a variety I must say!

We decided to name them after trees, specifically trees with more then one syllable. We went with... Hickory, Aspen, Hemlock, and Alder for the boys. And Willow, Maple, Magnolia and Juniper for the girls.

3 puppies are currently spoken for and well... were keeping a female to add to our future breeding family but we have not decided which one yet. It's a toss between Magnolia, Maple and Juniper. It's hard to decide when they are so young because the personalities are just beginning to show.

So as of today we have 4 puppies available. 1 white male, 1 black male, 1 black female, and 1 other female.

Again, I update their puppy page every week so stay tuned for updates there as well.
Picture

And in more news...

A BABY!!!!

Yes, and I'm talking about a HUMAN baby.
We are expecting a little boy November 7th 2018!

So, since we will have our hands full with a newborn this Fall we won't be breeding Lucy again until Spring 2019. Which this is great because it will give her some time for a break but I am taking names for that litter as well!
Picture
Picture
Anyways, there's been a lot of other exciting things going on around all these big things that sort of is making time go by SO FAST and things are a little bit of a whirlwind! But it's all good!

Hopefully the remaining 4 puppies will get chosen for homes soon!!!

All The Updates You Need!

PUPPY, LUCY & BUYERS UPDATE
Hey guys!!

I just wanted to update everyone on the puppy situation! Lucy has a scheduled ultrasound tomorrow to confirm if she is pregnant or not. I very much suspect she is because her nips have 'pinked-up' and she's getting a rounder tummy and increased appetite.

I have been getting about 3-5 calls, emails and puppy applications a week and it's becoming a lot for me. I will not have enough puppies for everyone at this rate as I had a large waiting list before we bred Lucy. Some people have been waiting for over a year for this litter and they will have priority when picking puppies.

For those of you who are wondering how this all works, basically once your name is on my list I will contact you once puppies are born. A deposit is required to hold a puppy but I do not take deposits until after puppies are born to avoid confusion and to ensure puppies are healthy before I promise you one.

If some people on my list are no longer interested in a puppy I will move onto my new applicants and go in the order I have received your applications! Once arrangements have been made between us you can come to our house and meet us, our dogs and the puppies (and the goats too if you like goats)! The remaining balance for your puppy is due the day you take him/her home (at 8 weeks old) and sign the contract.

Please note, I do not sell puppies for breeding purposes, they all require a non-breeding contract, no exceptions. I also prefer to sell to people that are in the maritime provinces because I really like to meet puppy owners in person. (I haven't been doing this long enough to get into flying puppies around Canada and the US just quite yet).  I also enjoy seeing regular updates on the puppies, which you can probably see from previous posts.

We are currently taking names for next years litter (Spring 2019). Right now we don't plan to breed Lucy this Fall as of right now.

I hope this information is helpful for all of you that have been contacting me lately. I have been very busy as I do work a full time job and have not been able to promptly respond to everyone like I prefer to.

CAT & KITTEN UPDATE
Just over 2 weeks ago we went to get our 2 cats Pixie and Tootsie spayed. We found out that they are both pregnant. We decided because they were so pregnant (about 40-45 days) that we'd let them have the kittens and then spay them after.

We are still waiting for the kittens to arrive. Cats are pregnant for about 64-67 days. They are roughly 58-63 days pregnant right now. Any day they should be here!

The good news is we have many homes already lined up for the kittens so hopefully we have enough kittens to go around!

Exciting times but we are going to have our hands very full with 2 kitten litters and puppies.

We'll keep you posted! Also, I'll make a page when the time comes for Kitten updates!

GARDEN UPDATE:
I'm stepping up my garden game this year. 2 new garden boxes down by our house as you can see Dave has already built. 1 more along the shed to be built and 1 more up by the farm. We have already repaired our fence extension and so far the goats have yet to escape. We have a few more weeks to play with before I start planting my veggies and if the goats get out this year and ruin my garden I will NOT be happy!

If you're looking for me , you'll find me in my garden!

BUNNY UPDATE
I got the cutest bunny update yesterday.

April 28 2015 we sold a little bunny named Pepper (Fuzz & Cocoa's 2nd litter) to a wonderful lady who still adores this little bunny!

What's the best part about it? She brings him with her to school and children play with him. He loves his little visits and the children look forward to seeing him. He also does a wonderful job helping children in school. The kids like reading to him too!

HA! Who knew bunnies could be service animals too! I love it!

Happy easter

I come with great news today!

We bred Lucy and Timmy via surgical implant on March 31st and it went seamlessly!

She should be due for puppies around June 1st! We will do an ultrasound in about 4 weeks from now to confirm pregnancy. Even I can't wait that long to know for sure but usually they'll start to show early signs. FINGERS AND TOES CROSSED!

Also, Lucy recovered really well from the surgery and is already back to her old ways.

The vet tech showed me Timmy's "Tim-bits" as she called them (hahaha) under the microscope. He had a perfect sperm count and got to watch some of them try to penetrate a skin cell!

In other news, I hope everyone had a good Easter! The dogs celebrated with pancakes.

I'm also determined that Spring is here and Winter is gone. we dug out our pots and furniture and tilled our gardens. We have lots on our list to do this Spring!

One of my favorite things to do when the weather starts to get warm is sit on the deck in the morning with my coffee and my Bogart by my side!
Picture
I received a few cute photos of some of the puppies in their Easter gear. I'll attach all the cuties below.

OH and one more thing... I even saw a cute picture of a bunny (Cinder) from our very first litter of bunnies back in 2014! You'll see him in there too :)

The 2 kittens are getting spayed next month. Oh joy, that will be fun! We'll have to keep them in lock-down for a few weeks.

Anyways, that's about it! Wish us luck with Lucy!

PS. It has been brought to my attention that our puppy application is not easily downloadable - I'll work on that!

PPS. Someone emailed me about 2 weeks ago about going on the wait list and the email was not available. I tried multiple time to respond! If you are that person - I am sorry, I am not ignoring you!
